Holding It Together During This Pandemic?

This is the time to Push the pause button. It’s hard to put life on hold. It’s hard to take a deep breath when we just want to wake up and hear that this pandemic is over. It’s hard to not over-think It’s hard to re-create life without the social norms we all have come to accept. How do we Silence the fears? Re-evaluate what is feeding your fear and what is based on reality at this moment. This is the time where it’s best not to think too far ahead. Staying in the now is o.k. Trust in knowing that we have weathered community/collective crisis before. And we will again. Remember that keeping things simple; being bored , never killed anyone. We are capable of re-inventing the way we get through a day and it can be very freeing. Set priorities with your limited finances. Don’t panic when you have to shift payment schedules or take advantage of assistance programs. Remember that you are likely spending less during this time; using less gas, not going out to eat, not going to social activities, not getting your nails or hair done and not going to retail venues. Have patience and respect for others’ reactions. Differing capacity to cope is often due to differing life experiences, resources, stressors prior to the crisis and current healthy supports. Set the tone for those around you; stay positive, keep your anxiety in check, find healthy activities to distract yourself and others. This is both powerful and contagious. Be that role model! Most importantly never forget, WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER. During this stressful time I am able to provide remote therapy sessions either by phone or Zoom. Please reach out by calling 203 598-0552 to discuss scheduling a session.
